(CARD )AJPW New Year Wars 2021, Day 1 (January 2nd, 2021)
AJPW New Year Wars 2021, Day 1 Card(2-1-2021)All Japan Pro-Wrestling start 2021 off strong with quite a solid card. The event will take place in Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan at 11:30 Jpn time. The event will also be streamed live on All Japan's streaming service, AJPW TV(https://www.ajpw.tv/) which you will need to subscribe to watch. This card's main event will prove to have high stakes for both Suwama & Shuji Ishikawa's World Tag Team Belts, which they have been holding for more then 361 days, as well as their run as a tag team. This match as well as the main event of the following day, will test the 25 year old Yuma Aoyagi on a large scale, first taking on the Violent Giants for the Tag belts, and then taking on Suwama for the Triple Crown the next day.
Zeus & Masato Tanaka have promised to put on a hell of a bout to the fans. Zeus had been missing for most of the RWTL, and upon his return on the 13th, he would ask the AJPW management to give him Masato Tanaka, and the management obliged.
Match One
Atsuki Aoyagi & RISING Hayato vs. Izanagi & Shigehiro Irie
Atsuki & Hayato have proved to be quite talented as young juniors, displaying great agility & potential in their previous 6 Man Tags in the undercard. Izanagi has qite the gimmick going for him, and Irie as usual has the size to come off as a brute. It'll be quite interesting to see.
Match Two
Yoshitatsu, Ryuji Hijikata, Takayuki Ueki & Chikara vs Ryuki Honda, Osamu Nishimura, Black Menso~re & Takao Omori
This match ought to be interesting which I can say for almost any Yoshitatsu or Nishimura match I see. Omori is definately not quite as mobile as he once was, yet he has somewhat of an enjoyable aura around him, that excuses it, as well as the nostalgic factor. Ueki can get a kick out of me with his various antics such as pulling out a gun in the match or do some crazy spot. The rest are semi solid wrestlers who can make for an interesting bout.
Koji will be teaming up with his mentor Hidaki, going up against the young guns from Big Japan. Nomura & Abe collectively known as the Astronauts, are known to be quite the skilled mat wrestlers. This match would most likely play out as a great/solid structured bout, which would most likely include some explosive spots with Iwamato included. All in all I am definitely looking forward to this exhibition
Semi Main Event
Masato Tanaka vs ZEUS
Zeus & Masato have promised to tear the house down at Korakuen, the clash of styles would definitely be interesting to see. Zeus's powerhouse and smash mouth style going up against Tanaka's hardcore, and almost masochistic style would be a pleasant surprise if all goes well. This could give Zeus the opportunity to come off strong in his return, and show that he is not rusty, equally this will be quite the showing for Masato, to see if he can still go toe to toe with the top guys at his age.Main Event (World Tag Team Championship Match)
Suwama & Shuji Ishikawa(c) vs Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi
As I have stated before this match carries high stakes, as The Violent Giants (Suwama & Ishikawa) have stated that if they were to lose to Nextream (Miyahara & Aoyagi), they would disband as a team. Ishikawa, in my opinion is one of the hardest workers in professional wrestling today, and has been carrying that title for a long time. Standing in at 6ft 4, he definately towers over his opponents, apart from is physique he can sell and bump his ass off for talent he is trying to put over. Suwama does that to a point, mostly coming off as more of a one man wrecking crew. Miyahara is one of the most talented performers today, he's got the skills, the gimmick and the mind for an ace, and some would make the case that he is one. Aoyagi is my favourite up n' comer today, he and nomura, have 'IT', whatever that may be its working, and hopefully it gets him the title/titles.
