(AJPW) Abdullah Kobayashi Realises His Dream & Challenges The World Tag Champs
Abdullah Kobayashi & Daisuke Sekimoto participated in the 2020 AJPW Real World Tag League, gave interviews backstage after the tournament as is custom. The two BJW veterans had come close yet in the end could not make it to the finals. Kobayashi would talk about how he auditioned for the All Japan Dojo as a student.
Kobayashi would say "At that particular time Masanobu Fuchi was the one in charge of judging auditions, and he said to me 'You are too small, so come back when you reach 180cm.'"
"It has been 26 years since then." He would laughingly say, "My height has shrunk a little bit as by knees and hips have buckled, yet my weight has almost doubled." On one day of the tournament Fuchi's match was second on the pamphlet and Kobayashi's was sixth. He would look at the pamphlet and say "I was very impressed at the order of matches on the pamphlet."
"I really want to go back when I have a time machine. Go to the past and meet myself as a student and show him this pamphlet," Kobayashi said.
When he was aspiring to become a professional wrestler he sent his resume to almost 20 of the organisations that were there at the time, except New Japan Pro-Wrestling."I even put it on Rings, but New Japan looked scary," he said.
Most promotions ignored it, but shortly after its launch Big Japan was widely recruiting trainees. He would say,"Now that I think about it there was an edge."
I am already heading for revenge in the ring", Kobayashi said. Kobayashi & Sekimoto challenged Kento Miyahara & Nextream after they beat the Violent Giants on the 2nd of January. Although the title match will not be a deathmatch, Kobayashi has grown accustomed to performing in a non death match environment.
